“For as long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated by world cultures, spirituality, and nature. My step-mother is from Puerto Rico and would offer guided meditations to soothe me as a child. She would concoct natural remedies for colds, aches, asthma, and all manner of beauty tricks for hair, skin, and face. She was superstitious and there was often an air of mysticism in daily life. She helped shape me into the calm, open-minded, creative, and spiritual individual I am today.”
Rose took the transformational plunge of becoming a Kripalu certified yoga instructor in the spring and summer of 2014. The program was 4 weeks of immersive training on yoga poses, bones, muscles, body functions and conditions, as well as philosophy and self-study. Kripalu’s core value is that of compassion; whose philosophy invites practitioners to develop and listen to their own inner wisdom, interpreting and expressing the eight limbs of yoga in an authentic and individual way.
Prior to Kripalu, Rose obtained a yoga certification through AFPA (American Fitness professionals Association). She taught yoga at Calliope Farm for two years in exchange for local organic vegetables. There, she developed a deeper understanding and appreciation for farm-to-table lifestyle and culture.
she teaches and performs Tribal Bellydance. This unique style of Bellydance is performed by a group of two or more dancers without the use of choreography, which is facilitated by a vocabulary of moves and cues. Bellydance is often stigmatized in both Western and Middle Eastern cultures. She uses the dance as a means to empower women and express the feminine divine. She has a product line of natural beauty products called Roma Therapy.
